"I am primarily concerned with the depiction of light and atmosphere in my paintings. It may be the soft glow of the sun burning through mist or the bright morning light bursting through the clouds. I am always trying to convey a sense of place, using close observation of the shape, structure and colour of the landscape. I use watercolour and pastel as I find the immediacy of those mediums ideally suited to the transient effects I am so inspired by."
