Marcel Gatteaux was born I962, he was born in 1962, he attended Camberwell School of Art and trained as a fine art picture restorer in Piccadilly. His paintings started selling after trips to Provence in the early 1990s. Since then his paintings have been shown at many solo and joint exhibitions in London, Hong Kong, Mallorca and Florida. He is inspired by the landscapes of Greece, mainland Spain, Mallorca and visits Paris and Venice where he makes sketches to use once back in his studio.
Visiting France at least once every year he is inspired particularly by the heat light and colours of Provence. He travels often in rural areas on foot via the Grande Randonnee pathways to experience the landscape at first hand. The sights and fragrance of Lavender pine trees and the sound of cicadas add to the all round experience which inspires his paintings.
